HMBMDC Rescue Report ~ March 2007 Hi All
We have a female named Lacy that we think is 7-8 years old. She is the girl that was rescued by a woman that notified us about Silver's selling off his Berners (thats how we got Sammy and Oliver). She was in terrible shape and was not expected to survive the first night, but she did. She steadily improved and was happy, is house broken and very quiet. She was give to us because of, in my opinion a misunderstanding of circumstances. Lacy was sleeping on the floor and their 4-year old fell on her. She woke with a start and I believe they just kind of met each other, one going down the other coming up. Anyway, she caught the boy with her teeth at the bridge of the nose and under the jaw, so her mouth was wide open, more indicative of a yelp than a bite. But the owners decided not to take the chance. we can't see it in her at all. She gets along great with the other dogs and the cats. She sits in her corner coming out to get some attention when everybody else is getting some.
She is very sweet, and seems to be in good health. She was intact when we got her and is now spayed, which was hard on her.
the old owner was told she was only 3 and never had pups. It was instanty obvious to us she was much older and had several litters of pups. Which was confirmed by the condition of her uterus, plus her ovaries were covered with cysts.
She has had a hard life, with her torn ears, malnutrition, being ignored and used as a puppy factory.
She would like nothing more than to spend her remaining years with a family or person that will match her sweet and quite nature. She does run with our gang and will explore the yard on her own. We have her up to date on all her shots and heart worm. I'm sure we can work something out to offset some her medical expenses and I would wave the adoption fee for the right home.
She deserves a chance Like Sammy got, to live free and happy.
If you have room in your heart, she would love to fill it. Please let us know.
